Gold to wed
The way of Judaism is to look to amend the human and his traits, reaching good and balanced qualities. That someone won't, for example, reach the point of debauchery or will not, on the other hand, fall into grief and mourning. In this project, I examined the wedding, a ceremony with such a high and special meaning, aspiring to unite two souls for eternity. However, a big part of it has nowadays turned into a bloated showcase of exhibitionism, which lost the point of balance and pure happiness. I created a collection of dresses incorporating within them elements both from the bride's world and outside of it. These are intertwined, attempting to reach a balance between debauchery and grief, excess and void, between the embellishment and meagerness of the material, what appears on the surface and what forever remains in the human soul. Materials: natural fiber fabrics (cotton, linen), synthetic fabrics (tule, satin, organza), artificial pearls, eggshells, acrylic paint, silk printed gold foil, candle's paraffin. Working techniques: sewing, embroidery, painting, hand drawing and ripping, silk printing, secret recipe for fabric stiffening, pearl crushing and weaving, paraffin melting.
