Preserving anonymous buildings In the coming years, the number of buildings demolished and rebuilt as part of urban renewal processes in Israel will continue to rise significantly. The decision not to preserve a certain structure, positions it as anonymous, of no historical, cultural, or architectural importance. From the notion that each building is an entire ecosystem that embodies material and human values, the project proposes a method for preserving anonymous structures designated for demolition under TAMA 38/2. The system is comprised of a series of conservation actions aimed at compiling an alternative documentation file. Focusing on the material culture of the building’s construction period, its stories and people, the method sets out to preserve a piece of a building that is about to disappear and to give visual shape and presence to the transparent.
