Of Dates and Other Delicacies

In perpetul pursuit of a sense of belonging and homeliness that I've never had, I photograph scenes of the old neighborhoods of my mother's hometown of Kiryat Gat. As I wander I observe the life that takes place in the buffer zones between inside and outside, as if the boundaries of the house have dissolved beyond its four walls. The ambivalent feelings toward the place never cease to deceive me. Using the photographic mechanism I investigate my personal and familial relations to the place in which I did not grow up but serves as a base for my family. This way I create a new form of memory - one that isn't mine yet belongs to me. At times the new memory directs its attention to the dying places - those which have not yet been replaced with the new.
