Shepherd of Life

Power and control have always occupied my mind, from my love of fantasy and sci-fi to my constant search for what is beyond? Who or what rules and dictates everything and, most importantly, how does it look? I imagined a primordial and balanced power, sturdy, all- knowing, that references various myths of goddesses usually tied to earth (Gaya), wisdom (Athena), and creation (Ma). I designed a series of accessories for a powerful female character: The look derives from a tree as a symbol of creation, primacy, as a sort of shepherd of life. The design combines elements of Celtic repeating shapes, straight lines, simultaneously organized and disorderly, all aspiring upwards. In addition, the Scottish kilt is referenced in the skirt as a symbol of power and regality. Materials | Nylon 12, Veg-tan leather, Textile, Rice-starch glue. Working techniques | MJF 3D Printing, Digital 3D design using anatomical scans, Wet molding, Laser cutting, Airbrush painting, Adhering and stiffening using Rice-starch glue.
