shoe identity
In Greek mythology, Hermes' shoes are described as having wings. The shoe connects the person to the ground and provides him with stability. The contrast of the connection to the wing, the purpose of which is to detach from the ground and fly, fascinated me and accompanied me throughout the project. I created a series of three pairs of shoes that combine digital design and innovative 3D printing of the sole from a flexible thermoplastic material. On the other hand, I used handmade techniques in leather for the shoe upper. The series was developed using materials and technologies that seemingly contradict each other but enable innovation in the field of shoe design. The soles of the shoes have undergone a long and precise engineering and design development process to allow flexibility and, at the same time, stability. The sole allows movement but also protects the foot. The shoe series I designed is a meeting point of design technology and traditional craft.
