      The Happiest Day

“The Happiest Day" is a book of visual research having a focus on weddings that took place between the years 1984-1990. The book defines the wedding as an event of consumer interest and as a show for establishing socio-economic status, along with accelerated processes of Americanization and the establishment of capitalism as an economic system in Israel in these years. The book takes a look at the abundance of culture of the selected years and celebrates the borderline between kitsch and fantasy. Through a materialistic perspective, the book seeks to ask questions about the 'now', the meaning of the marital ceremony and the bind to the extravagance of it all, and the connection between romantic love and consumerism in the capitalist era.
