Thoughts on a vessel
Each day I wrote on a page, each day on a vessel. A layer, stepping back, returning, looking, another layer, firing, layers interacting, forming… cracks, peelings, crumbling, a layer, stepping back, firing, returning to the vessel, returning to myself. From this ingathering I created for myself a kind of “material diary” about the vessels. I drew on ceramic tradition but the wild and curious place in my soul sought expression and the vessels underwent numerous firings and layers. Intuition was my guiding light. Techniques and materials: wheel-throwing, coil-forming on the body, red sandy clays, glazes, metals, found materials: chairs of wood, iron, concrete. Size of the work: various sizes
